Messenger & Social Platforms Under Scrutiny – Does the Digital World Still Connect Us?

About this video

WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Facebook, Instagram, X and Co. are supposed to connect us humans, make information accessible, and facilitate communication.

But does that actually still work in everyday life?

Users repeatedly experience cumbersome operation, hard-to-find contacts, limited forwarding and sharing functions, changes to familiar functions, as well as questions regarding data protection, data storage, and the increasing commercialization of social platforms.

And at some point, a very simple question arises:

How much of our valuable life time do we actually want to spend operating digital tools that were originally supposed to make our lives easier?

In this OKiTALK broadcast, we take a closer look. We talk about WhatsApp and its weaknesses, compare the messenger with Telegram and Signal, and also take a critical look at Facebook, Instagram, X, and other social platforms.

It should explicitly not only be about criticism. We want to fairly weigh the advantages and disadvantages, discuss data protection, communication, reach, user-friendliness, and digital self-determination, and look for good alternatives and improvement possibilities.

What works well? What annoys us? What could be significantly easier? And what digital tools do we actually need if communication is to serve humans again – and not the other way around?

Your experiences are also welcome.

Discuss with us, share your experiences, and let us think together about what a more human digital communication could look like.

OKiTALK – from human to human.
