About this video

Learn together with our seasonal festival expert Christian Zwenig (https://livingearth.one/profil/1735995595156%C3%97812385147870854800) about the backgrounds, traditions, and rituals of this seasonal festival. The program is hosted by Karin Neumeyer from LIVING EARTH.

On December 21, 2025, we have the winter solstice. For the ancient pre-Christian peoples, this was a very important sun festival, marking the end of the old cycle and the beginning of a new cycle.

The resurrection of light was celebrated, the rebirth of the sun, as from this point on the days become longer again. It is the festival of Yule, also called Jul.
Hjul means in the Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden) something like wheel. This refers to the wheel of the year, or for the Celts, the seasonal cycle, which ends at the winter solstice and simultaneously begins anew. The central themes are thus death and rebirth.

The sun turns, the old ends.

Together with our seasonal expert MANUELA PANTALEO, we have also created a wonderful course on the SEASONAL FESTIVALS. In this course, you will find even more background knowledge from Manuela, astrological insights into the qualities of the festival times from Karin, specially created yoga flows from Lena, and breathing exercises from Tatjana.
