started about 30 years ago to plant a forest on degraded soils, which has now grown into one of the most fertile forests in Yucatan, Mexico.

In this forest, at this wonderful place, XINA TOWN is now to be created –
a completely new form of nature-woven city.
XINA TOWN will develop into a model for sustainable, symbiotic development.
It is not only about ecological architecture or new forms of settlement, but about the question of how people can live, learn, and cooperate in new communities without simply reproducing old patterns.

The key to this is EDUCATION.

In XinaTown, school and education hold a central importance. Almost everything necessary for life in such a community – new forms of housing, self-sufficiency from gardens, communal responsibility, cooperation instead of competition – must be learned anew.
A vision alone is not enough. Action must be preceded by better knowledge. And knowledge must be preceded by desire. Therefore, Bernardo sees education not as a secondary area, but as a fundamental foundation.
