Slavic Everyday Magic: Candle Magic, Nauz (Magic Knots) and Space Cleansing

In Russia and Ukraine, magic is still used in daily life. It is particularly common to speak intentions into the created (be it candles or knots) – a practice known as “Besprechung.” Nauz is widespread in Northern Russia and is an ancient Vedic tradition. We will look at three different Nauz for love, health, and money flow. For space cleansing, we use Thursday salt, which is prepared on Thursday during the waning moon. Here too, the salt is spoken over both during preparation and application.
